Avery® Duck Dog Basics 2 - Basic Handling with Chris Akin DVD
The Avery® Duck Dog Basics 2 - Basic Handling with Chris Akin DVD is a great dvd to help you with your hunting dog training and more. A retriever that sits steady and confidently retrieves birds is truly an incredible tool for the hunter. But, it's still only a small part of what these amazing animals can accomplish. It's time to start heading towards the development of the finished retriever. All dogs can learn to handle... that’s right, young or old, 100% of retrievers that have a desire to retrieve can become good handling hunting partners.
Within 3 hours of Duck Dog Basic II, Chris takes you through proper E-Collar usage while teaching the drills and aspects of basic handling, water honesty and how to positively take your retriever through to the next level. Now, the ground work has been completed...grab your whistle, a bag of bumpers and lets get to work.

2011 Avery Youth Field Staff Power Hunt
By: Avery® Flyway Manager, Chad Yamane

|
|
This year the Pacific Flyways hunt took place December 29-31 in Northern Utah. Avery Youth Field Staffers in attendance were brothers, Kam and Kole Lane from Idaho. Helping me out on this year's hunt were Avery Pro-Staffer, Rob Friedel and Avery Territory Manager, Josh Noble. Kole and Kam arrived Thursday afternoon. Rob and his son, future AYFS Kelton Friedel met up with us at my house for introductions. From there we went to dinner where we discussed our options for the morning's hunt. Afterwards, the boys got back to the house to find a box from Avery waiting for them. Inside was an Avery Expandable Guide's Hunting Bag, Avery Sportsman's Travel Hunting Bag, Avery Fleece Skull Cap and Avery Ball Cap for each of them. All this and we haven't even hunted yet. Thanks Avery! |

2010 AYFS Central Flyway Power Hunt
By Avery Pro-Staffer Vance Stolz
 |
|
After having the pleasure of attending the last two Central Flyway AYFS Power Hunts in Kansas and Nebraska with my son, YFSer Tyler Stolz, I was impressed with how important this hunt really is for an already very successful program. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the kids on the AYFS, parents, and the other Pro-Staffers who were involved. While on our way home from the Nebraska hunt last year, Tyler and I speculated on where the hunt might be held the following year. As the next few months passed, we anxiously awaited word from our fearless leader, Avery Territory Manager Derek Rambo. Sure enough, an e-mail arrived in early summer from Derek titled, “2010 AYFS Power Hunt”. Excitement grew as I opened the e-mail to see where we may get the opportunity to travel for the hunt, not very far as it turned out! The e-mail started with, “Would you be interested in hosting the AYFS Hunt this year?” |

Pro-Staffers Tangle with Tennessee Longbeards… By Avery® Pro-Staffer David Rearick
|
|
Put..…Putt..Putt.. The wise hen disappeared just as fast as she had emerged from the depths of the shadowed hardwoods. The sun filtering through the emerging growth of the trees exposed unmasked portions of my face, and while she was well within range had she been a tom, my best attempts at concealment were thwarted by her keen eye. It was just 30 minutes into the first evening of the hunt, and we already had two birds gobbling and hens at our feet.

Like a lot of Americans have had to do, Avery Pro-Staffer Bryan Bacon responded to his nation’s call for service and was deployed to Iraq as part of an U.S. Army Reserve Unit. Starting in 2008, Major Bryan, USA/AR, married and a father of four, was mobilized for 15 months. Training started at Fort Dix, NJ, then March Air Base in Riverside, California, then on to Ft. Hood, Texas and finally Kuwait where Bryan underwent his desert training before entering Iraq in March of 2009. Bryan was assigned to the 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Brigade at Joint Base Balad, Iraq. He worked on staff for a Brigadier General at Balad as a Staff Operations Officer supervising the civilian KBR Combat Logistics contract for the entire country. Memories for a Lifetime
By Avery Pro-Staffer Randy Ryals

A bunch of Happy Hunters!
|
Memories…some are good, some are bad. Some involve family, others friends, and some involve times and others events. Over the dates of February 5-7 of this year, five boys from Big Oak Ranch were treated to the duck hunting trip of a lifetime and while there, hopefully created memories for a lifetime as well. I will never know exactly what the boys will remember most 20 years from now; be it praying in the duck blind on their first morning out, shooting their first bird, spending time with friends, or getting to know Brodie Croyle a little better; but one thing is certain, I feel we will all carry away warm thoughts and memories of time well spent with friends.

To fulfill my post-season yearning for cupped-winged fowl, I grab my camera and head out in an attempt to grab that one shot, the photo you'll never tire of looking at. I approach my photo shoots with the same drive and enthusiasm as if chasing my quarry with a gun.

When Greenhead Gear® full body Canada goose decoys were introduced to the goose hunting world in 2003, many goose hunters felt that these were the most life like decoys ever produced.
