DEREK RANDLE WINS 2nd SRS TITLE

Congratulations to Team Waterdog member Derek Randle of War Eagle Retrievers on his recent victory in the Super Retriever Series in Hutto, TX at the home grounds of Team Waterdog member and Triple Crown Retriever's Head Trainer Rody Best.   Derek handled GMHR-GRHRCH Tennessee Hunter's Midnight Star (known to most as Stella) to the win despite inclement weather which led to many dogs being picked up.   In overcoming the largest field of dogs in SRS history, and howling winds, Derek and Stella became the first handler and dog to win two SRS Championships.

In addition to Derek's accomplishment, Team Waterdog member Chris Akin handled GRHRCH Ballplays on the Slide MH to a fourth place finish.   Chris has consistently handled dogs to the final five in the Super Retriever Series, and was named Great Outdoor Games Champion in 2004.

The Hutto SRS was also the first public introduction of two new Avery® products.   While the internet has been abuzz about the ATBTM (Avery True Bird), prior to the event very few outside the company had actually held one, but all had a chance to try them out immediately prior to the event.   The ATB was also the bird used during the final two series.

While the Mallard ATBTM was very quickly accepted, the SRS Series ATBTM was the talk of the event.   This black and white bird offers a very strong contrast in any conditions, and provides the best opportunity for a dog to see long marks.

The SRS is a very unique testing ground for Avery® products, and the ATBTM proved to be no exception.   Having the opportunity to gather input from some of the finest professional and amateur trainers has proven very beneficial as we bring innovations into the world of sporting dogs.
