The 2002 U.S. Open and World Team Goose Calling Championship^™ is history, and I wanted to take a moment to re-visit the weekend. This contest is one of my favorite events of the year, and everyone at Avery^® Outdoors, Inc. is proud to work with Mack's Prairie Wings to make this event a success.

First, I would like to thank all of the people who attended. I met waterfowlers from across the country, and you are the reason the U.S. Open and World Team Goose Calling Championship^™ is possible. Next, the callers who put on the show hold the admiration of all of us who are proud to call ourselves sportsmen. Third are the sponsors who take from their own pockets to make this event so special. Last, but not least, are the judges. This year our judges were Mike Eddy, Joe Scogland, Tim Grounds, Shawn Stahl and Fred Zink. If you attended the event you know what a difficult job they had.

When this event was conceived in 2001, all of those involved wanted to make this contest inclusive of everyone in the outdoor industry, and if you look at the list of contest sponsors, you will see that this goal was reached in a big way. All of us who make our living in the outdoor industry realize that while we compete with each other every day, it is you, the hunter, who make it all possible. The U.S. Open and World Team Goose Calling Championship^™ is a venue that allows all of us to say "Thank You."
